The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll is set to begin in Odisha from tomorrow, marking a major statewide voter verification exercise. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to verify voter details and assist citizens with corrections in their voter ID records.
According to Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan, the process aims to ensure a clean and accurate voter list across the state.
Massive Door-to-Door Verification Drive Begins
Under this initiative, thousands of Booth Level Officers will actively visit households across Odisha in the morning hours. Citizens will be able to:
- Verify their voter details
- Correct errors in voter ID information
- Update missing or outdated records
This large-scale verification drive is part of the Election Commission’s effort to strengthen electoral accuracy.
BLO Assistance Available at Booths Every Day
In addition to home visits, BLOs will also remain available at designated polling booths daily between 3 PM and 5 PM. During this time, voters can approach officials directly for:
- Voter list corrections
- Registration updates
- General assistance regarding electoral rolls
This dual system is expected to make the revision process more accessible for citizens.
Removal of Non-Citizens from Voter List
As part of the verification process, authorities have confirmed that non-Indian citizens identified during the drive will be removed from the voter list. This step is aimed at maintaining the integrity and legality of the electoral database.
Large Workforce Deployed for the Exercise
A total of 45,255 Booth Level Officers have been appointed across Odisha to ensure smooth execution of the revision process. Their responsibilities include:
- Door-to-door verification
- Data correction support
- On-ground voter assistance
Conclusion
The Special Intensive Revision marks a significant step toward improving the accuracy of Odisha’s voter database. With large-scale field verification and public assistance mechanisms in place, authorities aim to ensure a transparent and updated electoral roll across the state.
