Tension has escalated in the Kotia region along the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border ahead of Andhra Pradesh’s Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections scheduled for tomorrow.
The situation reportedly intensified following clashes between police personnel and administrative officials from the two states. In response, authorities have strengthened security arrangements across sensitive villages in the border region.
A heavy police force has been deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents. As part of the security measures, prohibitory orders under Section 163 have been imposed in 21 villages.
Authorities have also stepped up monitoring at three check gates, where round-the-clock surveillance is reportedly underway. Security personnel are keeping a close watch on movement in the area as election-related activities approach.
The administration has increased vigilance across Kotia and neighbouring sensitive locations to maintain peace during the election period. The measures are aimed at preventing further clashes and ensuring that the situation remains under control.
The developments have once again brought attention to the long-standing Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border dispute in the Kotia region. Further updates on the security situation are awaited.
