Odisha CM Majhi in UAE After 14 Investment MoUs

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is in the United Arab Emirates as part of the state government’s investment outreach, with the visit gaining momentum after agreements were signed with Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company (IHC) and the Adani Group to explore 14 projects involving an estimated investment of ₹2.1 lakh crore.

The Odisha CM Majhi UAE visit is focused on attracting large-scale investments, strengthening business partnerships and showcasing Odisha as an investment destination. The Chief Minister is leading a state delegation during engagements in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

14 projects proposed with IHC and Adani Group

On September 9, the Odisha government signed MoUs with IHC and the Adani Group covering 14 proposed projects. According to the state government and reports citing official information, the projects have an estimated aggregate investment of around ₹2,10,500 crore.

The proposed projects cover a wide range of sectors, including metal downstream industries, slurry pipelines, critical minerals and rare earths, chemicals and petrochemical derivatives, renewable energy equipment, healthcare and industrial infrastructure.

Other areas under consideration include tourism, skill development and sports infrastructure. The proposed investment pipeline therefore extends beyond traditional industries into several emerging and service-oriented sectors.

The employment potential has been estimated at around 8.68 lakh jobs, although these figures relate to proposed projects and should not be treated as confirmed employment creation at this stage.

Odisha CM Majhi UAE visit focuses on global investment

During a high-level roundtable with IHC’s business verticals and group companies in Abu Dhabi, Majhi highlighted Odisha’s natural resources, industrial capabilities, strategic location and developing infrastructure ecosystem.

The Chief Minister invited IHC and its group companies to explore long-term opportunities in critical minerals, metallurgy, port-led development and other emerging industrial sectors. The meeting was attended by senior representatives from IHC and the Adani Group.

The latest agreements also build on an earlier partnership involving IHC and the Adani Group for an integrated aluminium project in Odisha. Discussions during the UAE outreach also covered progress related to that proposed project.

Odisha seeks stronger UAE trade and export links

The investment discussions were accompanied by efforts to expand trade and business connections between Odisha and the UAE.

The Odisha delegation also interacted with members of the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG). Discussions included opportunities to promote Odisha products such as turmeric, ginger and seafood, along with food processing and contract manufacturing opportunities.

The state government has also been using the UAE visit to connect with the Odia diaspora. The Chief Minister was welcomed by Indian Ambassador to the UAE Dr. Deepak Mittal and members of the Odia community, with discussions focusing on strengthening Odisha-UAE social, cultural and economic ties.

The UAE outreach is scheduled to include engagements in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, including investor meetings and an Odisha Investors Meet. The programme is part of the state government’s broader effort to attract overseas investment and create new opportunities for industrial growth and employment.

For Odisha, the Odisha CM Majhi UAE visit represents a major international investment outreach, with the 14 proposed projects placing the state’s industrial, infrastructure and emerging-sector opportunities before UAE-based investors.
