People travelling along the Sunabeda–Jamgaon road inside the Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha’s Nuapada district reported spotting two leopards on the route, triggering concern among motorists and local residents. The reported sighting occurred during the night, when several travellers noticed the wild animals moving near the roadside.
According to eyewitnesses, two leopards were seen in the area while vehicles were passing through the forest stretch. One of the animals was captured on camera, while the second leopard disappeared into the surrounding forest before it could be recorded.
The unexpected appearance of the leopards created panic among those travelling through the sanctuary road. Some motorists reportedly slowed down or briefly stopped after noticing the animals, while others continued their journey cautiously.
Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its rich biodiversity and serves as a natural habitat for several wild species. Wildlife experts often note that animal sightings may occur in forest regions, particularly during night hours when many species are more active.
At present, no official response or advisory has been issued by the Forest Department regarding the reported leopard sighting. Authorities have also not confirmed additional details about the incident.
Travellers using roads that pass through wildlife habitats are generally advised to remain alert, avoid stopping unnecessarily, and refrain from disturbing wild animals if they are encountered. Maintaining a safe distance helps protect both people and wildlife.
