The Election Commission of India (ECI) will begin the Phase-3 Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists from July 1 across Odisha, 16 states, and three Union Territories. The nationwide exercise aims to improve the accuracy of electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.
As part of the large-scale verification drive, nearly 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to verify and update voter information.

According to officials, the revision process will cover more than 36 crore voters across multiple regions of the country. The initiative has been designed to ensure transparency and maintain updated electoral records.
The Election Commission has already issued a formal notification regarding the revision process and instructed all polling stations to carry out the exercise under strict supervision.

Political Parties Asked to Appoint Booth Agents
The ECI has directed political parties to nominate polling booth agents to monitor the verification process. The move is aimed at ensuring transparency and smooth execution during the voter list revision drive.
Officials stated that field-level officers and political representatives will jointly oversee the process at polling stations.
Structured Verification Process Planned
The voter list revision will be carried out in a systematic manner across all polling booths. Booth Level Officers will verify voter details through direct interaction with residents and update records wherever necessary.
The Election Commission believes that the revision exercise will strengthen the electoral database and reduce errors in voter records before future elections.
