AI-powered traffic enforcement cameras installed on Odisha National Highway for road safety monitoring.
AI traffic enforcement cameras are now operational on four major National Highway corridors in Odisha.

AI Traffic Cameras Begin Monitoring Four Odisha Highway Corridors

Motorists travelling on Odisha’s National Highways are being urged to follow traffic regulations carefully as AI Traffic Cameras Odisha have become operational on four major highway corridors from August 1. The technology-driven enforcement system has been introduced to improve road safety and strengthen compliance with traffic laws across key routes in the state.

The newly activated AI-powered surveillance system will automatically detect several common traffic violations. Authorities have stated that offences such as riding a two-wheeler without a helmet, driving without wearing a seat belt and overspeeding will be identified by the cameras, with violations potentially leading to penalties under applicable traffic rules.

AI-Based Monitoring Introduced on Four Highway Stretches

The AI surveillance network has been deployed on the following National Highway corridors in Odisha:

  • Manguli–Sambalpur
  • Sambalpur–Raipur
  • Brahmapur–Bhanjanagar
  • Bhanjanagar–Taptapani

These highways witness significant daily traffic movement, making them important corridors for road safety monitoring and enforcement.

The introduction of automated surveillance is expected to assist authorities in identifying violations more efficiently while encouraging safer driving behaviour among commuters.

Focus on Road Safety

The AI-enabled cameras are designed to continuously monitor vehicle movement and detect specific traffic offences without requiring constant manual supervision. By identifying violations in real time, the system aims to improve compliance with existing traffic regulations and promote responsible driving practices.

Officials have advised motorists to ensure they wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, fasten seat belts while driving, maintain speed limits and follow all applicable traffic rules while travelling on these highway stretches.

With the enforcement system now active, road users are encouraged to remain alert and comply with traffic regulations to avoid penalties and contribute to safer highways across Odisha.

As AI Traffic Cameras Odisha continue monitoring these four National Highway corridors, authorities hope the technology will strengthen traffic law enforcement and support ongoing efforts to improve road safety across the state.
