After a tense 15-hour rescue operation, a youth identified as Rudra was safely brought down from atop a mobile tower in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
The high-risk rescue mission, named “Operation Rudra,” was carried out by Fire Services personnel along with ODRAF teams after the youth remained stranded nearly 100 feet above the ground for several hours.
Protest Continued for More Than 15 Hours
According to reports, the youth climbed the mobile tower near Dhenkanal Town Police Station and continued his dramatic protest for over 15 hours.
He was reportedly demanding:
- Proper treatment for his cancer-affected mother
- Reinstatement in a police job
- Government intervention regarding his family situation
The prolonged protest created tension in the area as officials and emergency personnel closely monitored the situation from below.
Challenging Rescue Operation Conducted
Rescue teams climbed nearly 100 feet and used a full-body safety harness to bring the youth down safely.
Officials described the operation as highly challenging due to the height of the tower and the prolonged nature of the protest.
During the rescue, Rudra reportedly became unconscious and was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment and health examination.
Public Attention Drawn to Emotional Protest
The incident attracted significant public attention because of the emotional demands raised by the youth regarding his mother’s cancer treatment and employment concerns.
Authorities stated that the situation remained sensitive throughout the operation as the youth had allegedly warned of attempting self-harm if his demands were not addressed.
Administration Assures Support
Following the rescue operation, the Additional District Magistrate reportedly assured that discussions would be held regarding:
- Possible job reinstatement
- Medical treatment assistance for the youth’s mother
- Further administrative support if required
Officials are expected to continue monitoring the matter while ensuring proper medical care for the rescued youth.
