Odisha Won’t Be Affected by South Coast Railway, Clarifies ECoR

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has firmly stated that Odisha will not suffer any loss due to the formation of the South Coast Railway, putting an end to ongoing concerns and speculation.

No Impact on Odisha Railway Structure

Railway officials clarified that reports suggesting damage to Odisha’s railway interests are “misleading and motivated.” They reassured that the state’s railway network and administrative control will remain intact.

Importantly, authorities confirmed that no part of Odisha will come under Andhra Pradesh’s control, countering widespread rumours.

Key Routes to Remain Under Rayagada Division

ECoR highlighted that major railway routes will continue to function under the Rayagada division, ensuring smooth operations without disruption.

Routes that remain unchanged:

  • Koraput – Singapur Road
  • Kotavalasa – Kirandul
  • Kuneru – Therubali
  • Gunupur – Paralakhemundi

Additionally, out of the 696 km under the Waltair division, a significant portion will stay within the Rayagada division.

Clarification Ends Confusion

This official statement comes amid growing confusion over railway restructuring and its possible effects on Odisha. By addressing misinformation, ECoR has reassured citizens and stakeholders that the state’s railway interests remain fully protected.
