Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has urged the state’s Gen-Z youth to remain cautious about digital influences, social media misuse and drugs while calling on them to stay connected with the values of patriotism.
Majhi made the appeal while addressing young people during the launch of the ‘Ghar Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Bhubaneswar on August 9. The campaign was launched on the occasion of August Kranti Diwas and is being observed as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The Chief Minister’s message focused particularly on the challenges young people face in the digital age. He cautioned that online platforms and other influences can sometimes be used to mislead youngsters and urged them to remain vigilant.
Odisha Gen-Z Youth Asked to Stay Cautious Online
Addressing the gathering, Majhi said young people need to be careful about the way social media and digital platforms influence their thinking and decisions.
According to the report on his address, the Chief Minister referred to the presence of “invisible” forces, misuse of social media and drugs as factors that could mislead young people. He appealed to Gen-Z to avoid such influences and give priority to patriotism.
The warning comes at a time when social media has become an important part of how young people communicate, consume information and form opinions. Majhi has previously also spoken about the responsibility of digital creators and the need to prevent misleading content from negatively affecting young minds.
Focus on Patriotism During Tiranga Campaign
The Chief Minister made the appeal while launching the state-level Tiranga campaign in Bhubaneswar.
The programme included a procession involving students, Scouts and Guides, NCC and NSS volunteers, along with cultural performances representing Odisha’s traditional arts and heritage. Majhi also urged people to use cloth flags instead of plastic flags during the national celebration.
The Chief Minister highlighted the significance of the national flag and connected the campaign with the values of courage, peace, truth, prosperity and duty.
He also called upon people across Odisha to participate in the campaign and honour the sacrifices associated with India’s freedom struggle.
Majhi Links Youth Role With Odisha’s Future
Beyond the Tiranga campaign, Majhi also spoke about the role of Odisha’s young population in the state’s future development.
He said Odisha would have an important role in the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and highlighted the contribution of farmers, workers, youth and women to the state’s economic and industrial growth.
The Chief Minister’s appeal places particular emphasis on young people making responsible choices in an increasingly digital environment. His message was not limited to avoiding harmful influences but also encouraged the youth to connect their personal choices with wider social and national responsibilities.
