Man Carries Sister’s Skeleton to Bank in Odisha to Claim ₹19,300

In a shocking incident from Keonjhar, a tribal man, Jitu Munda, reportedly carried his deceased sister’s skeletal remains to a bank to claim ₹19,300 left in her account.

According to reports, he was asked to provide a death certificate and other documents to withdraw the money. Due to lack of awareness and limited access to official paperwork, he was unable to complete the process.

In desperation, he brought his sister’s remains as proof of her death, leaving bank staff and locals stunned.

Following the incident, authorities stepped in to support him. The administration ensured he received essential welfare benefits, including an old-age pension, electricity connection, and a ration card under the Public Distribution System (PDS). He was also given immediate financial assistance of around ₹30,000 and help to access his sister’s bank savings.

In a major relief measure, Alok Pandey provided ₹10 lakh financial assistance to Jitu Munda and his family. The support aims to ensure long-term financial stability and improved living conditions.

The incident has sparked widespread concern, highlighting the challenges faced by people in rural areas in accessing basic services.
