In a significant anti-corruption action, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a senior official of the Income Tax Department in Odisha for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹4,000.

The accused has been identified as Ramesh Mohanty, an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) posted at the Income Tax Office in Charampa under Bhadrak district.

According to allegations, the official had demanded ₹4,000 from a complainant in exchange for deleting a duplicate PAN card entry from official records.
