Odisha may witness widespread rainfall in the coming days as a developing low-pressure system over the sea is expected to influence weather conditions across the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a cyclonic circulation has formed over the South Andaman Sea, raising the possibility of further weather activity over the Bay of Bengal region.
System May Intensify Into Low-Pressure Area
Weather officials stated that the cyclonic circulation is likely to intensify gradually and may develop into a low-pressure area around May 12 or 13.
The Meteorological Department has also predicted the possibility of the system strengthening further into a depression if favorable atmospheric conditions continue.
Experts are closely monitoring the development of the weather system as it could significantly impact rainfall activity over Odisha and nearby coastal regions.
Yellow Warning Issued for 20 Districts
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for 20 districts in Odisha, forecasting rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning activity.
The warning indicates the possibility of:
- Moderate to heavy rainfall
- Thunderstorms with lightning
- Gusty surface winds in some areas
- Temporary weather disruptions
Residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert and follow official weather updates.
Rainfall Activity Expected to Increase
Officials said the developing weather system may enhance rainfall intensity across several parts of Odisha over the next few days.
Coastal districts, along with interior regions, may experience intermittent rain and cloudy weather conditions as the system moves further over the sea.
IMD Monitoring Weather Situation Closely
The weather department is continuously monitoring the movement and intensity of the cyclonic circulation and the possible low-pressure formation.
Further updates regarding district-wise rainfall forecasts and weather alerts are expected in the coming days.
