Ahead of Independence Day, 12 women from the Chetana Block-level Mahila Mahasangha in Binika of Subarnapur district are working to meet the growing demand for Tricolour flags. Their work has taken on added importance as preparations are underway for the district-level Tricolour Yatra.
The women have already sold 2,000 Tricolour flags for the district-level event. In addition, they have supplied 18,000 flags to the block administration, taking the total number of flags sold or supplied to 20,000.
Subarnapur Tricolour Flags Prepared by Local Women
The flag-making work has brought the women together ahead of the national celebration. With Independence Day approaching, their focus has been on producing the Tricolour flags needed for public programmes and related activities.
The initiative is being carried out by members of the Chetana Block-level Mahila Mahasangha in Binika. The group of 12 women is playing a direct role in preparing the flags for use during the upcoming celebrations.
The demand has included flags for the district-level Tricolour Yatra, for which 2,000 flags have already been sold by the women. A further 18,000 flags have been supplied to the block administration.
20,000 Flags Sold or Supplied
The figures highlight the scale of the women’s current work. While 2,000 flags were sold for the district-level Tricolour Yatra, the block administration received another 18,000 flags.
Together, these orders account for 20,000 Tricolour flags prepared and supplied by the group.
For the women involved, the activity has also created an opportunity to contribute directly to Independence Day preparations in their local area. Their collective effort is helping meet the requirement for flags as different programmes are organised across the district.
The flag-making activity in Binika comes as communities across Odisha prepare for Independence Day events. The Tricolour remains at the centre of many such programmes, including public marches and awareness activities.
