Students studying in government high schools across Odisha are set to benefit from expanded access to higher secondary education as the state prepares to introduce Odisha +2 Education in 71 government high schools. The proposal has received approval from the Project Approval Board (PAB) under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, paving the way for the next phase of educational development.
The initiative has also received financial support from the Central Government, which has sanctioned ₹140.74 crore for its implementation. The funding will help establish the required infrastructure and academic facilities for higher secondary classes in the selected schools.
Arts and Science Streams to Be Introduced
According to the approved plan, 60 government high schools will begin offering the Arts stream, while 11 schools will introduce the Science stream. The move is intended to provide students with greater opportunities to continue their education without needing to shift to distant higher secondary institutions.
The expansion is expected to strengthen the state’s school education system by improving the availability of higher secondary education in government institutions.
