Odisha Heatwave Intensifies as Jharsuguda and Sambalpur Record 44.4°C

Odisha continues to struggle under severe heatwave and humid weather conditions as temperatures remain dangerously high across several districts of the state. According to weather updates recorded by 2:30 PM, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur emerged as the hottest places in Odisha with temperatures touching 44.4°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that there will be no immediate relief from the scorching heat till May 26. Weather officials also predicted that temperatures may rise by another 2°C during the next five days.

Western Odisha Faces Extreme Heatwave Conditions

Western Odisha districts continue to witness the worst impact of the ongoing heatwave. Hirakud recorded 44°C, while several other regions also crossed the 40°C mark.

IMD Forecasts No Relief Till May 26

The Meteorological Department has forecast that heatwave conditions are likely to continue across Odisha over the coming days. Officials stated that temperatures could further increase by nearly 2°C, especially in western districts.

The prolonged hot and humid weather has disrupted normal life in many urban and rural areas. People are avoiding outdoor activities during afternoon hours as the intense summer heat continues to affect daily routines.

Humidity Adds to Public Discomfort

Apart from soaring temperatures, humidity levels have also increased significantly in several regions, making conditions more challenging for residents. In coastal areas including Bhubaneswar, people are experiencing oppressive weather conditions throughout the day.
