Central Team Visits Ganjam to Assess Cyclone Arnab Damage in Odisha

An eight-member central team is visiting cyclone-affected areas of Odisha’s Ganjam district today to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab. The team began its field assessment from Purushottampur.

The team is led by Ravi Shankar, an official from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. During the visit, the members are expected to examine the extent of damage caused by the cyclone and assess the impact on affected areas.

Before arriving in Ganjam, the central team had visited neighbouring Gajapati district to assess cyclone-related damage. The team also held discussions with the District Collector and senior administrative officials at the Collector’s office to review the situation.

The assessment is part of the Centre’s evaluation of the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab in the affected districts of Odisha. The findings of the field visit will help authorities understand the extent of the impact and determine the assistance required for recovery and relief efforts.

The team’s visit to Ganjam is expected to provide a clearer picture of the damage to infrastructure, property and livelihoods in the affected areas. Further details of the assessment are awaited.
